Nymphs

From the smallest mayflies, to caddis flies, to the big flies such as stone flies, aquatic insects spend a large portion of their lives under the surface. Although there are several stages they go through before emerging into adults on the surface, these can generally be termed as nymphs. We can imitate a lot of different insects with just a few patterns if we cover the whole color spectrum in a few sizes. Most of the patterns you will find here are not specific imitations, but are nymphs that can "suggest" a number of different insects.
