Dry Flies

Dry fly fishing can be one of the most demanding and rewarding types of fly fishing. Seeing a trout rise to your well presented dry fly is one of the most exciting moments a fly fisherman can experience. You may be using one of the old traditional catskill patterns such as the Light Cahill or a bold attractor pattern like the Royal Coachman. What I offer here is a handful of patterns that can be used to imitate the different color ranges of mayflies, and caddis flies along with some attractor patterns . I tie these mostly in the two most popular sizes 12 and14, it's a good idea to carry several of each pattern in case you lose the one that's working for you, trees like flies almost as much as the fish do!
